How it works: Each PDF page is rendered to an image then packed into a fixed-layout EPUB.
Kindle receives crisp pixel-perfect pages with no reflow blur. Everything runs locally — nothing is
uploaded.
Reducing file size: Text ePub is the best option to reduce file size. All
legible text is extracted from
the PDF and repackaged as a text only document. The original layout is preserved as much as possible, but non
text elements like images and tables will be removed.
Lower DPI: if the screen is only 1236×1648px, rendering above ~150 DPI gives zero
visible benefit and only adds to file bloat. JPEG quality depending on the quality of the
original document, lowering this can be indistiguishable on some e-ink display.
Greyscale removes all color data, only useful for full color scanned documents.
FreePub is free — and always will be.
If it's saved you time or frustration, a small contribution keeps it maintained and ad-free.
